DINING EXPERIENCE
: We were all in the mood for a dinner of warm, nourishing pasta and crusty Italian bread. La Scala had that to offer and then some. From the outside, the restaurant appears to be a large, typical Cape Cod home with weathered shingles. There was ample parking and a short walk to the entrance. We were greeted by one of the owners and led into the bar area first, paused by the "specials board", and seated in one of the cozy dining rooms. Our waitress, Ellie, was pleasant, unhurried, and efficient. The table for 4 was comfortable and pretty roomy considering all the water and wine glasses, breads, appetizers, salads, etc. They position the tables so you are not bumping forks with diners at the next table. MENU RECOMMENDATIONS
:APPETIZERS: Fried calamari was cooked well but tender and the marinara sauce outstanding. Cost: $6.95. It was shareable for the 4 of us and to go back for seconds.
ENTREES: Seafood FraDiavlo is on the regular menu for $14.95. The seafood portions of scallops, shrimp, mussels, clams, and calamari were more than generous and just the right amount of linguini. One of their specials, Sausage Parmegiano, was quite different with a couple of browned sausages, smothered in peppers, onions, mushrooms, with melted cheese over choice of pasta. Very filling.
DESSERTS: We had some willpower that night. 2 of us ordered dessert and shared with our partners. The canolli's were delicious to the very end.
KID'S MEALS: This is a family-friendly restaurant and has 4 offerings for kids @ $4.95 each - chicken fingers, , chicken cutlet w/pasta, and All-American favorite, hamburger.
