You haven't been to Kauai unless you been to JoJo's. Even in January, JoJo's Shaved Ice (with ice cream in the bottom) is pure sunshine. For a real WOW, drive to Eleele, get a farm fresh coffee, then stop at JoJo's Clubhouse for a #10 on the way to Waimea Canyon - OMG! Compared to JoJo's, everything else is just a snow cone.

Jo-Jo's Shave Ice is in Waimea, west of Poipu, right on the highway in town. The shaved ice is so good here, we've actually parked the car and waited an hour for them to clean and service the ice-shaving machine, rather than driving on. When it is sunny, there is absolutely NOTHING like a shaved ice from Jo-Jo's, with Lappert's macadamia nut ice cream in the bottom to cool you off completely. It is always sunny in the western part of Kauai, so there's no excuse to drive by without stopping.

This is THE best shave ice on the island! You must have it with macadamia nut ice cream on the bottom, preferably with the tropical combo (guava, passionfruit, and mango?) flavor ice. We went there after we hiked all over Waimea Canyon, so we were ready to splurge!
