The Sage Room (new in 2002) is a nice addition to the upscale restaurants on the island. The prices are reasonable for the quality of food and the presentation.
The Sage Room is a rather small restaurant that appears to be popular, so make a reservation. It was full on our Friday night visit with many apparent locals in attendance. As you enter you will notice a large counter where some patrons can enjoy their meal as they watch the chefs at work in the open kitchen. We were not asked about sitting at the counter, so I don't know how that is arranged. I would not recommend that for a large party because conversation would be awkward. We sat at a traditional table.
The menu is not overly large, but what is there covers a nice variety of dishes. Salads are not included in the price, but the Sage Room Salad and the Caesar Salad ($5 each) were both excellent. My wife ordered the South Pacific Salmon, which was a very nice filet on a bed of pineapple and kiwi. She gave it very high marks. I had the Sage Room Benedict, which was a filet mignon topped with asparagus, poached egg and bernaise sauce. this combination was a very nice way to top an excellent cut of beef. Other entrees on the menu include ribeye, tuna, pork tenderloin, asian chicken, and a shrimp pasta.
Overall, this was a very nice restaurant.
NOTE: You will never find this resturant unless you know that it is there. From Pope Ave. turn into the Heritage Plaza. Then wind around to the very back of the shopping center and look for # 13. It is worth the search!
