Not great, wings tasted a day old. Service lacking. Environment is OK, but no service at all. I had to flag down waitress just for refills.

Excellent, reasonably priced food with attentive service. Not pretentious, like many places in Hilton Head. The strombolis were available with whatever stuffing you desired - all kinds of meats and veggies.

Guiseppis Pizza and Pasta

Located at Shelter Cove, behind Fudruckers, you will find a pizza place that will make your tastebuds sit up and take notice. Make sure you come in and visit the fine folks at Giuseppi’s Pizza and Pasta. They have been developing a large following of pizza fans since 1983. They have been voted best pizza in Hilton Head for seven years now and have received gourmet nods from many newspaper and magazine reviews, including the Atlanta Journal and Travel America.

Two frat boys started this shop, and their interior reflects that. It is quite comfy here, and you will find the atmosphere a fun place. This is a great place if you are not among the stuffy found all over Hilton Head. Or a great place for the stuffy who just want to be one of the regular folks. If they have a happy crowd, they will make a grand spectacle out of their pizza dough-tossing skills.

They offer a variety of subs, salads, pasta, boli (calzone), and something called a weggie, which sounds like a calzone to me. But since they offer calzones, I guess it is not. They offer a variety of pizzas, including several specialty pizzas, and about 20 toppings. They have a white sauce pizza that is inspired by the owner’s native California. They also offer a veggie pizza and veggie toppings for the vegetarian in your group. They do serve beer and wine.

All three of us easily agree on pizza, so we just went with a large pizza divided into thirds, and we got our own toppings. John went with pineapple and extra cheese, I went with pepperoni and tomatoes, and Brenda went with extra cheese and pepperoni. Their sauce is handmade and just wonderful. There are no words to describe their pizza. I think Homer Simpson says it best: Mmmm, pizza. If you don’t like this pizza, then what's the matter with you? We all went with a side salad - their house Italian dressing is so flavorful - and we also had garlic bread and marinara. Oh, my. We ended up quite full, with no room for dessert.

They do offer both lunch and dinner. They are open 7 days a week. They do not take reservations. They do offer local delivery and gladly deliver to the major resorts. In fact, we found out about them though Disney. They had a menu in our room. They do accept credit cards. For more information, call 843-785-4144 or go to www.hiltonheadfun.com.

Giuseppe's Pizza

Giuseppe's Pizza and Pasta

We discovered Giuseppe's twice during our visit to Hilton Head.

The first time was when deciding on what to do for dinner during a rainstorm, and the phrase "Voted Hilton Head's best pizza 7 straight years" in the yellow pages won us over. The delivery man had a little difficulty locating our condo, but called twice and finally arrived. The pizza was very good. Most importantly, the children all showed their approval by devouring it. I went for one last piece, expecting to find at least a slice or two left, but it was gone.

The second time was while looking for somewhere to eat before going to the Gregg Russell concert. We couldn't find a parking space in Harbour Town, so we went to the Sea Pines center to park and catch the shuttle. We saw Giuseppe's, and decided to get a bite to eat there. We walked in and got the last table in the place. It was outside and wet from earlier rain. The waitress wiped down the seats for us, so no problem. The children decided on pizza again (big surprise), while my Dad and I had "Steak Salad". A steak salad is an interesting combination of a normal garden salad topped with a heap of french fries and thin sliced fried steak. It's highly recommended for the perfect combination of healthy and naughty. My 3 year old daughter ate a large portion of my fries, but wouldn't touch the ones with blue cheese dressing on them. Again, the food was great, and very reasonably priced.

We went here on two occasions. The owner came to our table and talked with us, which made it seem very homey and friendly. Once we had pizza, and another time chicken parmesan. Both were very tasty. The restaurant is decorated in Pittsburg, PA-sports team memoriablia. There were folks with young children as well as dating couples enjoying the ambience of the restaurant. The first time we came, there was no wait. The second time, a line formed just after we arrived, but it moved quickly and people were soon seated. It has both tables and booths, as well as seating at the bar. There is a small bar and a terrace for dining outside in warm weather. You look carefully when trying to find this restaurant. It is at the end of a shopping area. The best landmark when trying to spot Guiseppi''s was the bright yellow awning of Fuddruckers which was right across the parking lot.
