A Simply Apology Would Have Gone a Long Way...

I realize that Christmas day is typically a busy day for a restaurant; however, our experience at Charlie's Crab was extremely disappointing. The first irritation was that they had run out of fresh tuna and salmon – not good planning for the early part of a busy evening. The She Crab Soup was mediocre, as was the Mahi Mahi. The most irritating thing was that they served the Seafood Jambalaya instead of the Chilled Seafood Platter. When we questioned the manager, he indicated that he had no idea why a hot meal was listed under the Raw Bar section and that this was indeed the correct dish. Much as we were not satisfied with the meal, we paid the check ... after all we did not want to make our own Christmas unpleasant. On leaving the restaurant we questioned the manager once again and, once again, received the run around and more excuses. A simply apology would have gone a long way. We won't go back.

My wife and I dined here the last evening of our vacation. It was a very enjoyable dining experience. The wait staff was attentive without hovering around the table. The seafood was fresh and well prepared. We started with the peel and eat shrimp that were of a good size and well chilled. My wife had salmon that was grilled with no hint of salt or overpowering spices. I had Maryland crab cakes that were made with lump crabmeat and very little bread fillers. Dessert was a raspberry tart. I would return again.

Charley’ Crab

We found that the best dining experience was at Charley’s Crab. We had the early bird dinner, which is a full course. It started with a salmon pate and crackers, bread basket with all types of warm breads and rolls, soup or salad (I recommend the Long Island chowder or Martha Vineyard salad), the main entrée (we both had grilled salmon, which was great) and dessert (we both had key lime pie, the best that we ever had). We also had ice tea with the meal and hot coffee later (all included) All of this for $15 each. The decor is outstanding in the restaurant too.
