This place is a true hidden gem! I have never had a better dining experience in my life. The ribs are out of this world good! The host, I believe his name was Trizzer, he is Canadian or something, was very gracious and accomadating. I weigh almost 350lbs. and he made sure I was comfortable and never had an empty glass of scotch. After a few rounds of coconut shrimp I had my ribs and loved every bit of them. I almost tried eating the bones they were that good! But I chose to have more scotch instead! No more mini bottles so I really enjoyed my drinks! I bought a t-shirt and had it framed since they didn't have one that would fit me. I can't wait to get back down there to enjoy this place. Ribs and scotch is was works for me!

My sister and I arrived at the Big Bamboo Café on a Saturday night around 6pm. The place wasn't packed, but we didn't want to sit at the bar and requested non-smoking. We were told it would be a 5-10 minute wait, but it turned into a 20 minute wait. A group of 6 came in about 10 minutes after we did and requested non-smoking. They were seated immediately. Doesn't seem right, but what do I know. I guess their bill was going to be more than ours so they are more important. So we are seated and the chair that my sister sat in almost broke (she's not a big girl, 5'6 and 125 lbs.). So she switched chairs and that was fine.

We looked at the menu for a while and they didn't have just crab legs so we ordered the big sampler platter. We asked if we could substitute the coconut shrimp with fried shrimp and were very rudely told no there were no substitutions allowed. The food on the sampler platter was okay, about what you would expect for a sampler platter. When we were finished eating we waited for at least 10-15 minutes for the bill. That didn't really bother us, that's typical but after we paid we were ready to get out of there. We were very disappointed, especially since this was my first trip to Hilton Head and only my sister's second. The only good thing about the place is that they had good live music and the wait staff were friendly.

We have eaten several times at the Bamboo and have found the food excellent. The portions are above normal sized (in fact, we usually have to take some home to the "dog"). Tuesday night is their specialty night when meals are two-for-one.

This small place is upstairs at Coligny Plaza. They serve good food in a fun atmosphere, decorated like 1940s Pacific island bar. There was a wintertime two-for-one dinner special on Tuesdays, I think?

This upstairs restaurant is located very close to the Waterfront Resort where we were staying. There was live music the night we were there and we found the varied menu to be reasonably priced. The Caesar salad with salmon was excellent, but stay away from the War Dog, an extra plump hot dog loaded with all sorts of things that looked good but wasn't, at least to my husband who eats and likes just about everything. There is a good selection of imported beer at this dining area.
