If you want the best dim sum experience around, search no further. It may not be in Chinatown, and in fact, I'm not sure that many Chinese folks even live right in Falls Church, but nevertheless, Fortune has the most extensive and delicious dim sum menu I have encountered in this area, and what is most wonderful of all is that you don't have to wait for Sunday brunch to enjoy it!
Succulent roast duck, noodle dishes, the standard array of pork and shrimp dumplings and an amazing crab dish that has a claw jutting out of some sort of crab cake such that it looks like an alien drumstick--these are just a sampling of the myriad dim sum treats that await Fortune's patrons.
Admittedly, I have only partaken of their food on a weekday occasion with a friend, but still the offerings were grand and in great quantity, despite the late lunch when business would normally start to get slow.
The biggest drawback to Fortune is that it is not metro accessible. Buses and taxis, yes, but metro, no. It's quite close to Carlin Springs Drive and in fact, it almost seems to be sitting in the Home Depot parking lot. Nevertheless, a walk inside transports folks into an elegant dining room that feels miles away from the hum drum work going on next door.
If you're local, it's worth the trek to Fortune for a grand dim sum meal. If you're visiting and have yet to enjoy dim sum, this is definitely the place.
