Cibreino

Friends we met at Il Latini recommended this place. We went to Cibreino, the smaller, less formal restaurant next to Cibreo. It was so cute! They had little chillies hanging from the ceilings. For appetizers we had crostini with pate and an interesting aspic-and-tomato jelly dish. For an entrée I had a chicken-and-ricotta meatball and my husband had a veal dish with tuna (of humus consistency) sauce. Their specialty was chicken neck, but it was too eerie to see the chicken's head on the plate! For dessert we had a very rich flourless chocolate cake. The meal was delicious, very unique, and what a cute place!

Wonderful, Wonderful, Wonderful!

This was one of the two or three best meals of my life. For the budget-conscious, go to the trattoria, not the ristorante - same menu, same chef, and much more traditional decor for about a third of the price!

This is Tuscan food at its finest. Go to experience true Tuscan cooking and a wonderfully friendly staff. They fell all over us when we told them we were on our honeymoon!

This restaurant is recommended in all the guidebooks and got a flattering write-up in the wine spectator, but don't waste your time or money on this one. They don't care about you there at all, and make no pretense about hiding it.

This was to be our big splurge night for dinner, and we had asked our hotel concierge to make reservations for us months in advance, but when we got there they sat us at what they called a "social table" for 6 and wouldn't put us someplace else after we requested.

All the dinner entrees are price fixed at about $30 each, and unfortunately, none of them appealed to me (which never happened to me before!) so I told the waitress I would just have 2 first courses (the pasta-soup course), but she wouldn't let me. They basically made me order something I didn't want, and when it came it was dried out and inedible.

Instead of apologizing and offering to get me something else, the owner came over without a word and dropped off a meatball on a plate for me to eat. Just one meatball on a big plate-no kidding.

Anyway, would you believe they charged us for my meal?

Don't waste your time or your money on this arrogant place, so many fabulous places to eat in this city!

We went to the Trattoria which is across the street and doesn't accept reservations and has extremely limited seating, so arrive early and be prepared to wait, but is worth it! The food is to die for! Order the yellow bell pepper soup if available. the menu is also very limited, everything on it is incredible!! If you go to the restaurant reservations are a MUST and the price triples, so be prepared!
