Tamale Street Vendor

We wandered across the street from the hostel one morning and noticed a cart with a huge pot, oranges, and a hand juicer. I didn't even know what was inside the tamale, but I took my juice and plastic plate to join the locals at a makeshift table. The tamale, with thick and spicy sauce on shredded chicken, and fresh juice cost less than $2. When finished, I took the plate back to the vendor and told him in my meager Spanish how good it was. Be adventurous--you are in Mexico! You can eat at the chain restaurants back home. I spent 7 days eating at out-of-the-way local joints and never was sick. ~~Just returned from Cancun and had another tamale for 5 pesos. I know more Spanish now and spoke with Jeremy who makes the tamales fresh everyday. Photos to come.
