We ate at the hotel for our meals, as it was part of the all-inclusive. Breakfast and lunch were very good. Dinner could be better. You can only eat in the á la carte restaurants (as opposed to the buffets) 3 of the 7 nights, and men MUST wear pants, which you only learn about if you read bulletin boards before your stay. The dinner food just wasn't that good, and that goes for both buffet and á la carte. The good news is, as part of the all-inclusive, you can order room service at no extra charge and get a burger, salad, etc.

The Resort has three restaurants and only two require reservations and only for the evening meal. The seafood restaurant - Chiquita Banana - and the Italian Restaurant - The Atrium - require more formal attire in the evenings, but otherwise it is very casual.

At the resort's restaurant you can find all kind of dishes you can imagine. The menu changes everyday, so you can have an Asian dish on Monday and finish with a delicious seafood cocktail in the same restaurant on Sunday. They also have different topic parties every night. The service is just incredible.

This is a great option because you can try whatever you want to eat, and the best part of all this is that since we had an all-inclusive plan, it's like $66 per person, per night, and it was great because Ivan, Jean Paul, and I eat and drink so much more than that!

A great part of all this, too, is that there's a restaurant right on the beach with an unbelievable ocean view. It has the same kind of food as the one inside, but you can have more cocktails and drinks are served faster.

Thursday night I recall they had a special Seafood night that required reservations for the Chiquita Banana (beachfront-2'from it!)--not many got them; it's small. I wasn't impressed with the head waiter personally, but my waiter was great and except for being rather tight with the no. of shrimp served and a bit overcooked the meal was good.

When you spend over $66.USD/day for all-inclusive and don't guzzle booze it means you judge the food more critically. Only once for the wk did I ask for an alcoholic drink (wine with the latter meal)--they said it would cost extra! That really annoyed me as I'd had virgins the whole week!

Generally it was easy eating; the restaurant off the main lobby was buffet style but prompt waiters would bring you alcoholic/virgin drinks. The desserts were more than OK but not fabulous (well a couple were pretty good).

This was the first time my husband and I did an All-inclusive resort. I must say the food was not that great. The same old bland food and some made us both sick. We were not the only people who got sick after talking to several couples. There are a few restaurants to choose from, but they all close down at night and there is one buffet offered outside with a show. There is an italian restaurant, which you need a reservation for and was quite good. Unfortunately limited seating and very hard to get a reservation. On a scale of 1-10 the food at the Royal Sunset was a three.
