I love the Shrimp Bucket. Before the hurricane hit, it was on the other side of the road and down a ways. Tavo was a bartender there and since they have re-built, I cannot find him. He was a great bartender and he did fabulous magic (card) tricks. I would go there every year and he would remember me. He even remembered my birthday the last time I was there and had a present for me. (I always go in February which is my birthday month.) The food is great and the service is excellent. They treat you as a friend and the energy there is exciting! If anyone knows where Tavo has gone, Please let me know, I am going back soon and I would love to see him again!

I just want to let everybody know that this local favorite restaurant for 10 years moved location to Blvd. Kukulcán km 15, in front of Gran Melia hotel and beside Aquaworld. This new location is on the same street it used to be but on a better spot and closer to the most important restaurants.

This spot is a good alternative to the costly Lorenzillos. It has more like a Chevy's atmosphere, only a lot quieter. The food was fine, the staff was very friendly, and the decor gives you that favorite-pub feel (license plates on the walls from all over, funny quotes, ect.). It’s a bit off the main drag, but no more than 5 minutes out by bus.

Great coconut shrimp! If you go in the afternoon, it is cheaper than at night. They did come around and write our names in Mayan on a postcard, which we declined to purchase.

I'm not sure about the food, I only ate quesadillas while I was in Cancun (vegetarian). The atmosphere of the restaurant was great. The place is a hut-like building with one big open-air dining area that spilled out onto the deck. We sat on the deck over the lagoon and had our dinner under the stars. Inside, was a live band playing salsa music, and one of the employees grabbed me up from the table and gave me a quick lesson. I've never had so much fun!
Favorite dish: The bucket of beer. It's a bucket filled with ice and a HUGE bottle of SOL. My guy also got a bucket of shrimp . . . he said it was good.
