We tried this Argentinian steakhouse called Cambalache and really liked it. As many places were full, this one was a sister restaurant of another place we tried to get into. I was pleasantly surprised.
We were a reservation of 14, and they accommodated us very well. I started with a wonderful waldorf salad. Another friend of mine got the tuna carpaccio, and that was wonderful (if you like sushi-type fish). Another got the veal carpaccio, which was equally good, and both were prepared at the table.
The portion size of the entrees was unbelieveable--such large cuts of beef and chicken that two people could slit it (or one could have leftovers). I got the tenderloin (the closest they have to filet mignon), and my friend got the skirt steak. She let me try since I didn't know what this was--MMMMMmmmmmmm!
A few of us had issues getting our steak cooked how we wanted it. (I think in Mexico they only have rare and well... I tried for medium, and I either got the wrong steak, or they don't know what medium was). But that was easily resolved. One person's was too rare, and they cooked it more for him.
The side dishes were neat... you have to try the souffle potatoes (see photo).
They did some neat tricks at this place, too, with the Mexican coffees by setting them on fire and making a show out of it.
