Worst Service Ever!

  • July 1, 2008
  • Rated 1 of 5 by amandajohnson from winona, Mississippi
My family and I had reservations at the 50's primetime cafe on Sunday June 22, 2008. We waited about 20 minutes after we were seated for our server to come and greet us and also take our order. She was so rude to my family and I. It was the worst service I have ever had. We ended up having to get the manager involved. I was very disappointed in disney for hiring someone with such a bad attitude. Also, I ordered the pot roast and it was nothing but fat on my plate. I will never go back to this restaurant again and I will not recommend anyone to eat here.

I ordered the pot roast, I was disgusted with the quality! It was horrible! There were layers of fat in the meat, and to top it off the drinks were watery! I will NOT go back! I thought it was horrible!

We LOVED this place—come expecting to role play as a family, because your server will definitely be a relative. It has a very fun atmosphere—loud, so it's great for kids! Food was excellent—sort of a "meat and potatoes" home-cooked feel. I had the meat loaf, one of the specialties, and was not disappointed—it was delicious! They have nice alternatives for the younger kids too—fruit cups, and Goldfish crackers can replace the old french fry standard.

You definitely want to have priority seating reservations. It took us 2 days to get in but was really worth it. The experience alone was wonderful. You are seated in an old-fashioned '50s home and your server is supposed to be a member of your family--they treat you like one, too. Our server was Uncle Dale, who was great. He has his own schpiel on how to act at the table, including no elbows on it. It was fun, and my 5-year-old loved it. They make sure you eat all your veggies or they let everyone in the place know that you're wasting food. The service was outstanding and delightful.

The food is home-style cooking, from meatloaf, roast beef, and veggies to fried chicken. It was excellent. My son got mac and cheese and could tell it was freshly made, definitely not out of the box. He said it was great. To end it all, we had dessert, which was enormous, so we all shared it. It was exciting and we will make sure we make reservations each time we visit MGM. It is a must-see.

'50s Prime Time Cafe- MGM

This has to be the cutest place to grab a snack in Disney. Although they serve lunch and dinner too, the meals are not very substantial. However, like I said, they make good mid-meal snacks. The snack menu consists of ice cream sundaes, make your own rootbeer floats, milkshakes, malts, cake and more. The decor is made up of many nostalgic '50s items. There are small retro black and white TV sets playing reruns of famous '50s television. It gets better. The waitresses all play a roll, like they were a part of your family. They might be your aunt, mom, or cousin. They also refer to you as "sweet-pea" or "sugarplum". While in MGM, you should definitely stop here for a snack.
