Perfect Western Resort

If you are searching for something upscale and relaxing, but with plenty of access to canyon hikes the Enchantment Resort will be perfect for you. While we didn't try any of the spa treatments (too busy hiking in perfect spring weather) the dining options were wonderful right on the resort, whether it was breakfast lunch or dinner. Our suite was fully equipped and very spacious. The staff also helped locate some other great out-doorsy activities like a jeep ride through some of the canyons. Sum up: great location, staff, dining options, and rooms.

We missed the Enchantment experience, but I thought I would mention it since two women I met at the Hilton fitness center who lived in the area recommended that we not miss Enchantment. It is expensive. They recommended at least going out there for drinks since it is one of the most beautiful places in the Sedona area. It is a little difficult to find.

We found that the best dining experience was at the Enchantment Resort. It is in a gated community that can be accessed by calling ahead for a lunch or dinner reservation. Famous people are frequently at the resort (Sharon Stone was on-site but we did not see her). The view on the outside dining deck has one of the best views in Sedona. If you stick to the luncheon menu, prices are not out of sight ($12 - $18) with nice gourmet style large portions. Excellent menu choice, however it can be pricey.

The resort at Boynton Canyon is luxurious and gated, but you can make reservations to dine at the more formal restauant or their bar/bistro. (Actually, we just showed up at the gate and the attendant called up and made the reservations for us - but this was Nov. and not high tourist season.)

The food was exquisite - tasted as great as it looked. (My sister fell in love with the prickly pear cactus drinks that we enjoyed on the patio). The bar's patio and restaurants have marvelous views of the canyon and bluffs, and you can watch the hikers moving the trail to ancient Indian cliff dwellings. The trailhead is at the edge of the resort.
