Uptown Sushi

Uptown Sushi seems to be the hottest new sushi place in Houston. It's packed every night of the week since opening a couple of months ago.

I went on a Wednesday night and there was a half-hour wait for a table. However, there was plenty of seating at tables in the bar area. The crowd is the seen-and-be-seen types, and the decor matches: white curtains, low lighting, and high ceilings - really impressive and beautiful.

The food (especially the sushi) was very good. I had the house salad with chicken, a sushi roll and several pieces of sushi. It was all very good. However, the service was not that great. Our sushi came out just fine, but then they brought my friend's appetizer and not my salad. After 15 minutes, I asked the waiter about it. He rushed off, and still did not come back with it for 15 minutes. There was a brief apology, but I did not feel like that was enough for having waited half an hour for a salad.

Parking is very difficult in Uptown Park in general, but there is $3 valet parking at Uptown Sushi.
