Bally's Big Kitchen

I really enjoyed Bally's Big Kitchen, a buffet with different ethnic and American foods. Las Vegas buffets cater quite a bit to the Asian culture. Bally's buffet includes prime rib, steamed crab legs, Chinese food, soups, salads, other wonderful foods and desserts. It's one of the nicer hotel buffets but definitely not the largest or the best. I really enjoyed the atmosphere at this buffet, though, and the staff was extemely courteous and helpful. If you go to this buffet, make sure to get there early, because they fill up fast.

We went during lunchtime. Come with an empty stomach. I rate the food as average and the menu's diversity as excellent. There is definitely something for everyone at this buffet.

Bally's Big Kitchen Buffet is one of the favorites of a number of my friends and family. They like it for very simple reasons: it is clean, the lines are not long, the food is great, and the cost is reasonable. My wife and I are picky eaters, and we were both very happy with the selections. Since this was once a higher-priced Asian food restaurant, the buffet keeps the Asian influence with a number of inspired dishes. Normally, the selection of food is the same as at every other buffet in the city (turkey, beef, prime rib). The room is spacious, and the plates they give you are HUGE. This is a great buffet at a price that will not break the bank.

The three women in our family ate here for dinner on the last night before boarding plane at 12am. The food was fantastic, but if only it wasn't our last buffet! I got drawn in after seeing the sushi and crab legs that I was craving. Steamed crab legs! Ooooh, and the dining atmosphere was wonderful; they had the prettiest buffet! So I was surprised to see the food area, because it looked worse than my school cafeteria, but whatever, the food more than makes up for it. Just be sure that when you go to a buffet where you have to pay a bit more, don't eat so much beforehand! I mean, picture us with 2 days of buffets already. Of course, as always, I could not let good food go to waste, or my mom's money... so I was well beyond stuffed afterwards. No more buffets for 2 years!

Everything I ate was pretty good, but here are some that stick out in my mind now.

Steamed crab (with legs and part of upper body... it was SOOO meaty; just this alone made the $18 worth it)
Sushi! (Beware, the wasabi is EXTREMELY strong for some reason)
Chinese dumplings and spring rolls (fresh and crispy outside, yummy inside)
Marinated orange duck (I had two legs... I love duck!)
Veal (by now I only had room for one slice, but it was very tender and juicy)
Mussels and clams
Asian-fried pork (for the hearty appetites)
Fried shrimp (I tried the shrimp cocktail, too, but I think I like warm foods better)
Fruit tarts (indescribably good, especially the raspberries)
Macaroons (My first time. I wish I had room to eat five more. Let me try to relate the experience: crunchy warm outside with scrumptiously creamy and nutty tasting filling inside... it all just melts in your mouth, ahhhhhhhhhh)
Ice cream (wonderful with banana foster and other toppings...)
Croissant-ish pastry with hazelnut crème filling (do you like NUTELLA? I love Nutella)
Watermelon (sweet and seedless and in huge chunks)

The reason we chose to try the Bally's Big Kitchen Buffet was because it featured many different varieties of seafood. I especially enjoyed the crab legs because I didn't have to work to eat them. They split them in two for you so that it is easier and faster eating! This buffet is a little more spendy, but well worth it. The cost for the brunch buffet (7am - 2pm) is $12.95 and the dinner buffet is $17.95 (4pm – 10pm).

The dining area is very elegant and the serving area is just what the name says -- a big kitchen. The waiter was very attentive with drinks and clearing dishes. I also witnessed him helping an elderly woman and how caring both he and the host were in handling her disability.
