We went to Skinny Legs because we were really craving a good old American hamburger. Skinny Legs has a great atmosphere, and is located on a beach.

They offer the perfect cheeseburger in paradise. The mahimahi burger was great, too. And what can you say about Skinny Legs himself - the man knows how to make you feel at home.

Skinny Legs was one of my favorite eateries on St. John, and not just because it was by far the cheapest! This is a hamburger joint, pure and simple. A dive bar/pub to rival all other dives. 'Cuz this ain't just any dive--it's an island dive! (That's right, there were goats tethered out back; they made goat noises at me the whole time we were eating, which was charming in a Green Acres kind of way!

Anyway, Skinny Legs has three main attributes to its credit: #1 - It is cheap. It is the cheap in the eye of the overpriced (albeit fabulous) restaurant scene that is St. John. #2) It is off the beaten path. If you want to really "see" the island, take a drive out there. It's on the other end of the island from Cruz Bay, so you are guaranteed to see villages, roaming livestock, and even herds of wild donkeys on your way there. This is NOT resort world. Finally, #3) These were seriously the best burgers I have ever had. Ever. When I return to St. J, my first stop will BE Skinny Legs - it should be yours too.

You've got to go for their burgers and environment. It's just a laid back outdoor bar and food place with good, solid food. Not overlooking the ocean or a view, but where everyone goes.
