A couple of years ago I stopped at this restaurant while visiting Williamsburg and thought that the food was okay for a buffet style restaurant. And the cost of about $35.00 was passable.
Then this last week while traveling to the historical places in the Williamsburg Triangle we decided to stop and have some seafood.
What a change in a restaurant has taken place.
From okay to the worst ever.
The place was not full and the food looked like it had been sitting out for a long period of time.
So we went and filled out plate and went to our table. The food was cold and tasted like it had been sitting for that long period of time.
We then called over the waiter and explained that the food was not exceptable or worth the cost.
His answer I get a manager.
Then after a bit out comes the manager. WE again explained the food was not hot and not worth the cost. His answer was what do you want me to do. Wrong answer....
The other guest that was dining with me states we need some kind of discount or something this food is not great.
He proceeds to explain that the steam was just there and not to keep the food hot, and that the ecomony made it so there was not that many guest.
He leaves stating he would bring food from the kitchen.
After a bit out comes enough food to feed a family of four or five.
We stated that was too much food we just want fresh hot food.
He leaves.
Then out comes the cook from the kitchen and say iis everything okay now.. No it is the same.
So I push aside what I was eating and finish a glass of house wine/
The other guest picks at the food.
We ask for check and get up to leave.
We proceed to the cashier and my bill was full price and they took half off of the other guest dining.
Asked for the owner or how to get in touch and no one knew how to do this.
So took a brochure and proceeded to call the main number
No way to getting to the owner.
I do not recommend this restaurant or will ever stop there again

Captain George's is an all-you-can-eat seafood restaurant. They have pretty much everything except lobster (they'd go out of business if they did). Crab legs, clams, shrimp, scallops, oysters... you name it, it's there. They have something for everybody, for those who don't want seafood (but I can't imagine why you're even here in the first place if that's the case). They also have a nice desert table with various cakes, pastries and things of the sort. The seafood isn't as fresh as I prefer mine to be but it's certainly acceptable. Considering the volume they do it's no small feat that it's as good as it is.
It's a tad bit pricey for the buffet but I mean come on... look at what you get. I remember years ago when it used to be $24.95, which was a great deal. I know it has gone up since then. I think it was around $30 the last time I was there.
If you're a seafood lover this place is a must-eat when in Williamsburg.

Had Valentines dinner tonight at Capt. Georges. For future reference they don't have lobster. They did have Prime Rip on the buffet. If you got lucky you could get a medium rare piece. Very lucky. Wasn't anything to really write home about. I think the desert I picked of Baklava was the better then I've had at a few Greek places. It was ok, probably won't go back. I think I'd spend my 26.99 on a restaurant that offered lobster, not nec. on a buffet though. Was kid frinedly for my 3 and 1 year olds.

We were here in Williamsburg to celebrate our birthday, being just a week apart. Naturally, we were looking a place to dine our heart out. We looked into couple of recommendations on several online guides but we thought they are too over rated when we got there. So we drove along Richmond looking for a restaurant that is not too expensive and yet with great experience. After going in and out of several restaurants, we finally decided on Cpt George's. The interior was great, the spread of buffet certainly make your money worth. Staff there were friendly. It is a place for couple, family, and friends. We will put this on our list of "must" when we visit Williamsburg again.

Captain George’s Seafood Restaurant features its world-famous all-you-can-eat seafood buffet with over 70 items including Alaskan snow crab legs, fresh broiled fish, steamed shrimp, prime cut beef and delicious desserts. A regular menu and children’s menu are also available.
When you enter the dining area the first thing you see is a 12-foot waterfall on the left and there is also a stream flowing through the entire restaurant! One wall is covered by a seascape (beach, lighthouse, etc.). Great décor!
We arrived early so there was no waiting line and we were seated immediately. Since we were both having the buffet we went ahead and loaded up our plates. Our server had already brought our drinks to our table. The broiled salmon and crab imperial were outstanding! We made several trips back to the buffet bars (there were 3) and barely had room for dessert. The dessert bar had 15-20 items to choose from.
The food is excellent and we highly recommend this restaurant. Captain George’s is open daily at 4:30 pm; Saturday at 4:00 pm; Sunday 12:00 pm.
