Until I found out about this place from a local friend, I thought Carmella's Grill was the best place for late-night greasy burgers and that Blue Bird Cafe was the best bet for morning eatin'. How uptown-centric I was! This is, hands-down, the best place for breakfast or a late-night burger run. It's located near the residential area and away from the crazy hustler part of Bourbon Street, though that's not to say it lacks character--the cooks and waiters are quite outlandish. The 24-hour food is amazing; I've never had fries this good! I went back four times over the course of three days! Thank goodness I don't live down the street from this place; if I did, I'd be like the Michelin Man.

Enjoy a hamburger fried under a hubcap in this fun and irreverent old fashioned style diner. Claiming to be the home of the world's best hamburgers, the Clover Grill cooks their hamburgers under a hubcap to seal in the flavor - at least that's what they claim. Whether due to the hubcaps or not, the hamburgers were quite good. The menu is cleverly irreverent and provides a few chuckles if not a few raised eyebrows and smirks. All the employees wear T-shirts that say Clever Girl instead of Clover Grill; and, as stated on their menus, they are not in any particular hurry. The menu informs you that if you want that type of service, there is a McDonalds down the road. The staff are; however, very friendly and often joke and chat with the patrons.

This is a great late-night place but it's open 24/7. When you walk in and see the pink tile, you know you're in for an experience. I recommend sitting at the counter. The wait staff is, let's say, interesting, so I suggest you not be difficult! The burgers and omelets are great but it's the counter chatter and customers that give this place character. Don't worry; they wash the hubcaps after they take them off your car!!!
