Johnny's Po Boy

This place serves great food. It was set up like a deli, with hot food and tables. The prices were very good. We got breakfast muffins with egg and ham, my favorite. The deli meat looked good too.

Johnny's Po-Boy Restaurant

I HAD to try a muffaletta. Along with beignets and alligator meat, a muffaletta po-boy is a must-eat when in Louisiana. Johnny’s had a Good Housekeeping seal of approval, so we figured we couldn’t go too wrong. Never having seen a muffaletta before, I can’t tell you if this one was any different than at any other restaurant. At Johnny’s, you’d better have a huge appetite or plan on sharing one of these sandwiches. The sandwich roll was about 9 inches across--massive! It’s filled with ham, salami, mozzarella cheese, and an olive salad mix. We ordered ours warm. I loved it. Everyone else gave it a so-so review. If you don’t like green olives, it may be a little strong. At $6.25, it is a great bargain and keeps you full well past dinner time! Johnny’s menu can be seen at katsandrats.com

Johnny's Po Boy

If you go to New Orleans, there are a few things you need to try...gumbo, jambalaya and of course a po-boy. The reality is that a po-boy is just like a sub, but that's not important. What is important is that Johnny's has a pretty mean po-boy.

When you are looking for something quick while walking around the French Quarter, try Johnny's. It is a very simple, diner type place. You seat yourself (if you can find a table) and order at the counter. The specialty is obvioulsly the po-boy and you can find some interesting combinations. I had the crawfish po-boy and liked it very much.

This place is worth going to just for the atmosphere. People stuffing their faces, dripping po-boys, an open grill, etc.
