This is one of my greasy eggs and bacon joint. I have to say the food is not of the highest quality. But it is one of those local places that a lot of uptown folk hang out on saturday and sunday with the papers. If you want basic eggs over easy with sausage and bacon this is the best place in the uptown area.

The Bluebird Cafe is a favorite in the Frommer's Guide so we had to try it. My boyfriend had their famous Huevos Rancheros that are stacked with soft tortillas, creamy beans, veggies and fluffy eggs. I opted for some delicious pancakes. It's a strange looking restaurant. It seems to of been remodeled from a warehouse or something. The staff was so very friendly! The trolley stops about two blocks away making it very convenient even though its not on a main drag.

The Bluebird Cafe is a little off the beaten path. Definitely a local hangout. Some even say they stop by for breakfast, then again around lunchtime for another breakfast and a doggie bag for later that night. The cafe is open for breakfast and lunch, closing at 3:00 pm. Although I have never been a huge fan of bran muffins the way they make them at the Bluebird has me eating them more than any other variety. They put raisins in them and wonderful spices! A box of these always go home with me.
