I ate at Volare's about 7 years ago and remembered it because it was great. They did not let me down. Again, they served a most wonderful veal and more food than one person could eat. My husband and I shared a dinner, as well as a salad. Maybe we were having a low night after travelling, but either way, with a glass of wine and bread, it was plenty that night.

It is a smaller place that has outside dining when the weather is good. There is always a full house, so I recommend a reservation. You can just stop on in, but be prepared, as you may have to wait.

This River North Restaurant serves basic Italian choices. You can choose your favorite type of pasta and match it with a sauce. I like the penne with prosciutto and peas - a cream-based sauce. The Bolognese sauce did not look too great to me, but it is a very hearty, meaty sauce to begin with. There are nighly specials and the linguine with seafood was enjoyed by 2 or 3 people in our group. There are also nightly fish and lamb dishes. The meat and poultry selections on the menu are slim and it appears the focus is on the pastas. For dessert, there are sorbet selections each night among the other classics - canoli, tartufo, spumoni... I had the pana cota - a cross between a flan and a creme brulee. It was deliciously creamy, but a little too heavy after all the pasta I ate.
