Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament

Wednesday was a day off from the parks, and we surprised the kids with a trip to Medieval Times. Don't remember exactly how much we paid, but it was worth every penny. We did order tix online ahead of time and saved a little.

Bill of fare included garlic bread, vegetable soup, huge roasted chicken, spare rib, herb-basted potato, and pastry for dessert - plenty of leftovers. However, there is no silverware provided! What great fun for the kids!

Seating is at long tables in an arena, and you are assigned a knight to cheer for. You can pay extra to be down low and have the chance to have a flower thrown to you by a brave knight in armor. The knights compete at different events, jousting, spearing rings, etc., to try to win the hand of the maiden. Of course, there's a bad guy out to steal her away, and the resulting battle with swords and shields is exciting. It was one of the kids' most memorable nights (no pun intended, but we will remember our black-and-white knight)!

Medieval Times Dinner and Tournament

For all of you who don't really know what the Medieval Times dinner show is all about, it's a fairly typical Florida vacation event, and by getting the Orlando Vacation discount card, you get some restaurant meals are at a discounted rate. I do believe that Medieval Times has a discounted price for travellers, and it's definitely a fun time for all. The only thing that my wife didn't like about it was that the entire meal was eaten with hands and fingers - NO UTENSILS!!!

I'm totally okay with that, and so is our daughter, but as for Nicole, she's a little fussy about getting totally messy when going out. We have one of these Medieval Times theatres in our hometown, and we have been a couple of times in the past. It's honestly worth about $25 to $35 at most, but you do get a bit of a show and all.

In any case, it's still a night out!

Although the reservations are recommended, you can secure a good seat by paying up front for the evening. A trip to Medieval Times places a tourist in the middle of a Medieval Period. The dinner is served out of iron kettles, which included soup, roasted chicken, spare rib, and beverages. Beer was included with this, as well. This placed a big smile on my face. As utensils had not been invented back in the medieval times, none were available to use. Diners ate just like the general population ate back then - with their hands. The evening was a blast! Our waiter made it so much fun. His name deserves mentioning - Chris Anastao. I'd encourage anybody that visits Medieval Times to ask for him as a waiter. After the dinner, diners were treated to an excellant show of horse back riding and lancing and jousting. A FANTASTIC finish to an evening of excitement.

This was a great night. I had soup, half a chicken, potato, spare rib, coffee, and dessert. And beer and a soft drink (Pepsi) was included. The show is a bunch of knights on horseback doing challenges, jousting, and sword-fighting. There are six knights, and the crowd is divided into six teams. You have to cheer your knight on so that he can defeat the evil knight.

It was a great time, and everyone in my group had trouble speaking for the next 2 days (not always a bad thing). The show goes for about 2 hours and is worth every penny. We upgraded our seats on arrival, were sitting in the very front row, and received programs. It cost an extra $7 but was well worth it. This is a must-see, and once seen, you will want to go again. By the way, our knight was victorious - go the red and yellow knight!!!!!

They had good food and the show was great. The wait wasn't that long and they had a buffet before the main course dinner and show. The people are friendly.
