Very Disappointed

My family-a party of 4-arrived about 8PM on a Tuesday evening. We waited about 50 minutes even though they said our wait would be 20-25. The service during the meal was extremely slow. We had to wait far too long between drinks, appetizers, salads, dinner, and our check. You could tell the waiter was not properly trained. Our waiter was not friendly or engaging. The calamari was tough which means it was onder or over cooked. My fish had bones in it. I ordered a side of onion rings which turned out to be a mistake. The first onion ring I ate was made with the outer peel of the onion which should not be used for an onion ring. It was tough and had the consistency of a shoe string. I told the waiter I was not happy about my meal. He had the manager come over. The manager explained to me that you cannot get all of the bones out of a fillet of fish. He further explained that the onions rings were not made by the restaurant. They were purchased frozen and fried. He did ask if I wanted another piece of fish or a dessert. I told him I had lost my appetite. I thought he would do something to keep the customer happy. I expected a discount, a coupon, or even a full comp. He didnt appear to be too concerned that our evening at Landry's was substandard. I have read the other reviews which are positive. I understand that things can happen. Yet, if you are wanting a trouble-free culinary event you not want to count on Landry's Seafood Restaurant near the Sheraton Vistana Resort in Orlando. I was expecting a great experience yet was deeply disappointed.

This was the best meal of the vacation. I am a seafood fanatic, so when I opened the vast menu, I was awe-struck. I finally decided on one of the combinations and, boy, was I happy that I did. The shrimp were large and well prepared. The crabcakes were very tasty. There were seven of us, including three kids, and we all were very happy with the choice that niight. After a long drive there from Michigan, we were glad to have a great meal with wonderful service.

Landry's doesn't take reservations, but their estimated waiting time on a Saturday night was approximately 35 minutes and they were extremely accurate. If the kids get anxious while your party is waiting, they can play on the outdoor playground while you are having one of the specialty drinks within their viewing distance.

All of the food, including steak and seafood, was excellent, but make sure you have enough room for their decadent desserts. Your server will bring you a tray filled with all of the offerings. Watch out for those oversized 45 oz. specialty drinks. The seafood platters offer a variety of mixed fish such as salmon (grouper was being offered as a special dish on our particular evening), crab, oysters, etc. on huge platters. Lobster and steak are also available. There are lots of vegetables included. For starters, there is always the bread and mixed salad, or try the shrimp cocktail. We also had a free appetizer coupon and received an order of bruschetta. We did manage to finish our main meal and couldn't resist the banana crepe filled with vanilla ice cream and topped with chocolate sauce, but we also shared chocolate cake since there were three of us and we had a lot of extra forks.

The service was excellent and while you are waiting for your food, there is always the interesting warehouse architectural look and lots of interesting decorations on the walls.

It was a great dining experience and by the look of the never-ending people streaming in and out, it was extremely popular.

With an appearance of fine dining, with white tablecloths and napkins, Landry's is a place where children are welcome. Almost immediately after our beverage order was taken, a young man appeared at our table to make characters out of balloons for the children. . . excellent. The children's menu was reasonable and a perfect selection for the little ones in our group. I would certainly take the family there again. The quality and taste of the food were good.

They gave us a coupon at the resort for a free appetizer and we ordered steak, seafood, and alfredo. We thought the Landry's in South Carolina was better but enjoyed our meal here. It is on the busy strip of International Drive so you to need to get there early or call ahead.
