Now on to the best Mexican food in the city. Mexican Radio used to be located on Mulberry St., but the space was tiny, and there was always a tremendous line on weekend nights. Now they've moved to Cleveland (close to Le Jardin Bistro, another gem) into a larger space. I'll miss the camaraderie of everybody struggling to eat and swill Margueritas while their elbows were knocking... but I digress.
The Food. The thing to order is the chicken flautas. Tender stewed chicken comes wrapped snugly in crispy fried tortillas and topped with a tangy red sauce. With a heap of beans and rice, this meal will not leave you hungry. I don't know how they make it taste so good, but the difference between this and what the average Mexican restaraunt dishes up is night and day. Ask anybody who has had the pleasure. If you're feeling really ambitious, try the Caesar Salad (did you know it was invented in Mexico?)for an appetizer. They do a terrific version.
