When the guy chopping up the roast duck up front and the other guy slapping down your tea cup are chattering loudly in Cantonese, you know you've come to a place that'll serve up the genuine stuff. Roast meats are the speciality of this hole-in-the-wall -- if you can overlook the grimy appearance, you'll realize that it's the same as devouring barbeque in a Memphis shack. Although there are a plethora of other Chinese dishes on the menu, I would recommended sticking to the roast meats -- you don't get them this good at other Chinese places. Although Hong Kong natives would scoff at the "crude" quality of Hon Kee's cuisine, beggars indeed cannot be choosers.
Try the roast pork, soy sauce chicken and roast duck. Have it with rice. For a vegetable dish, ask for the oyster sauce Chinese broccoli (yu choy).
You'll fill yourself and more, and probably not pay more than $10 -- including tip.
