Jade Villa

Jade Villa serves dim sum for lunch, which is quite popular. When busy, register to give your name and wait for your name to be called. Tablecloth service provided. When busy, it's quite congested inside. There are many dishes on carts rolling by with different delicacies. I ended up ordering far too many deep-fried shrimp dishes. Overall, the food was acceptable, though not outstanding quality. Their baked barbecued pork buns was too sticky on the outside, and the meat inside was overly sweet.

There's also a dim sum bakery, for take out only, adjacent to the entrance for dine in.

Jade Villa Seafood Restaurant

I ate the most delicious Hong Kong style chicken chow mein at Jade Villa. This Chinese restaurant is one of the largest (and one of the best) in Oakland’s small Chinatown area. People who work in the nearby downtown offices enjoy dim sum lunches during the week. These small dishes are of the common dim sum variety but slightly on the "good and greasy" side. Definitely watch out for the many deep fried dishes – too much and you might end up with coronary artery disease. Weekends commonly accommodate large Chinese wedding banquets. In terms of atmosphere, I would not categorized Jade Villa as particularly refined; one comes here for the food rather than decor.
