Fun Place - Great Food

My husband and I took the sage advice of our hotel's concierge about where to catch a late dinner after our evening arrival in New York City. With assurance, he recommended Landmarc. Since it was merely two blocks north of our hotel, we casually walked over to the Time-Warner Center at Columbus Circle. It is a lively and happening place where not only late-night shoppers stop to congregate but you may also run into a Hollywood or Broadway star there, as well. That evening, our waiter informed us that Bruce Willis happened to be dining there. I asked our very cool and very efficient waiter if it was the type of restaurant at which one would expect Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte to patronize. He said (without hesitation), "yes". That was good enough for me!
At night, its dark atmosphere is just right for privacy. Their cozy wooden booths along the front windows offer a delicious view of Columbus Circle below, from it third floor perch. It has a very classy menu with a large range of choices. Their bread for the table alone, is TO DIE FOR.
But I think the best part of the dining experience was their signature dessert "favor"....their cotton candy. It is a daily flavor (we got banana, the night we were there) and it was (here I go again), TO DIE FOR!
Our hip waiter made the evening wonderfully enjoyable and we left, hating to leave. It was a total success for us and we would highly recommend it. Please do take a look at their website. Make sure you look at their photos under the category ABOUT US...you may just want to jump on a plane for NYC.

With so many restaurants to choose from and the fact that we were only in town for one good dining night, I did extensive Internet research prior to arriving in the city. We were staying up around Macy's but chose to eat at the Landmarc in Tribeca. What a great choice! We probably passed 100 restaurants on our way there AND were glad we did. I read their menu online, along with several reviews. It was better than advertised. I hope the owner doesn't get mad at me, because I read that this is a local place with very few tourists. Hopefully this will lead to more business and he can expand, because the only fault I could find about the place was it's size—small.

We started the dinner with a very nice New Zealand wine recommended to us by the friendly bartender. Everything I read about their wine list and pricing policies was true. I have never been to a restaurant that priced wines pretty close to retail. It was refreshing.

For starters, my wife ordered her favorite, French Onion soup. It was very good. I wish I had ordered the calamari. It looked great, but I had had some the previous night in the Poconos. For dinner I had the rib eye, THE BEST I HAVE EVER HAD, and that includes Flemings, Ruth's Chris, and Mortons. My wife had the filet migon. Both steaks were perfect, as were the side dishes. For dessert we tried the sample platter. You get a small portion of all five of their desserts, another great idea.

The atmosphere is great. Although it was a smaller restaurant, you "had" to visit with the other guests waiting for a table in the bar area. We met some really nice people there, and they all had the same question for us, "How did you find this place"? I told them that I had found it through my research on the Internet.

The service was great. We did see a family there with two young children. They brought them blue cotton candy on a platter for dessert. It was so interesting that the couple sitting next to us asked for some. They had been to this restaurant four or five times before. We were very pleased with the whole evening and would definitely come back.

This is a new place in Tribeca that prides itself on great steaks, a huge wine list, and wines by the bottle that are reasonably priced. We visited Landmarc with two friends on a Friday night. They don't take reservations, and it was completely packed! The cold air blew in, but the glowing grill for steaks in the back of the restaurant seemed to keep the whole place warm.

The idea here is that you choose a type of steak and the sauce that goes with it. I had a strip steak with a chimichurri sauce. It was delicious! The service was friendly and smart, and they always had good recommendations. We did not feel rushed at all, even though there were many people waiting for a table. The dessert sampler was also quite good, and the complimentary watermelon-flavored cotton candy was another highlight. Be prepared for a long wait, but also be prepared to have a nice dinner here.
