Okay, it's your last birthday before leaving your 40s decade, you are in Disney World, how do you celebrate this momentous occasion? A Character breakfast, of course! We loaded up the family: grandparents, brothers/sister/and nieces, nephews and headed to the Poly for breakfast. We were a bit late getting there--lost in Disney World, but the hosts were accomodating and put us on the list to get seated. Our wait was short despite having a party of 10. Once seated we were greeted by the world's most friendly waitress. If Disney could clone her, the happy factor would go up 100%. She teased my 16 year old son, coaxed my shy niece to meet the characters and generally kept our table in stitches while keeping the food and drinks coming. The food was standard breakfast fare but it was hot and tasty.

The characters are a little intimidating to a 2-4 year old, but Chip and Dale were masters of drawing out the shyest child. They were soon chasing after the characters to get an autograph. My son and niece and nephew all participated in the parade, playing instruments and dancing with the characters. It was the best party anyone could imagine!

We had breakfast with Winnie the Pooh and friends at the Crystal Palace. It was a good value as it was an all-you-can-eat buffet with everything from fruit and muffins to made-to-order omelettes. I ate enough to last through lunch time. And our young kids got see Pooh, Tigger, Eeyore, and Rabbit during breakfast. They all had time to make it around to all the tables at least once for pictures, hugs, etc.

While visiting a theme park or staying at a resort, make reservations for a character breakfast, lunch or dinner. While I am touring a theme park, I prefer to eat at one of the character restaurants than the little fast food express lines. You get more for your dollar and a great experience for you or your children. Instead of fighting the crowds, you will have your private time with each character that the restaurant provides. Never mind that the food is presented buffet style and you can eat as much as you like. They even include a dessert bar. For a few dollars more than the fast food, you can make this your main course and fill up for the day. Not to mention, the quality time spent with each character and quality photos for memories.
