MacAlpine's Restaurant and Soda Fountain

Last time I was in Phoenix, I discovered MacAlpine's Restaurant and Soda Fountain. Boy, did that bring me back to my childhood! Talk about stepping back in time! I can't believe this place has not been used as a movie set. It is amazing!

I had a great chicken salad sandwich and the best chocolate malt I have ever had. Afterwards, I bought a cute purse for my granddaughter at the antique store next door. MacAlpine's opened in 1928 and was a pharmacy for over 60+ years with great memorabilia on display. Regulars sound like a Who's Who from Arizona: Wayne Newton' Barry Goldwater, U.S. Senators, Arizona governors and mayors. The restaurant is open for lunch six days a week and an occasional dinner. They are located at 2303 N. 7th Street between McDowell and Thomas, just north of downtown.
