Planet Hollywood is to the film industry business what the Hard Rock is to the music industry. The Planet Hollywood concept was began by actors Sylvester Stallone, Bruce
Willis, Demi Moore, and a certain California governor we know as Arnie. While many of the US Planet Hollywoods have closed shop, the Disney-Orlando property is still running.
People come to the Planet Hollywood restaurants to be surrounded by TV and movie memorabilia from some of their favorite stars. While dining here, you will find yourself surrounded by props, photos, and costumes from some of your favorite movies. The atmosphere of Planet Hollywood is active and bustling, so if you like movies and fun, you will find Planet Hollywood right up your alley. While the food here isn’t five-star, it is, however, quite good and tummy-filling.
John and I skipped the appetizers in order to have room for dessert. I went with the Sizzling Fajitas. Just the aromas from the food will make you happy. You get your
choice of steak or chicken (I went with steak), both red and green peppers, and cheddar and jack cheese. It is served with flour tortillas and Mexican rice. It was wonderful after a full day of walking around MGM Studios. John chose the Roasted Half Chicken. This yummy chicken has their own special and secret blend of spices. It is served up with mashed potatoes and green beans. I tried some of it, and it was quite moist and tasty. For dessert, we split the Super Chocolate Cake. Several layers of chocolate cake are smothered with a super-rich frosting. Not for the faint of calories, but oh so good. And worth every last calorie. The service was great, and our waiter made sure to keep an eye on us at all times, despite the fact the place was pretty full.
There are a few things to note about the Planet Hollywood. They do have bathroom attendants, so make sure you carry change with you when you go to the rest room. The merchandise in the store may not always be marked, so ask. We both purchased sweatshirts, and when they told us the final total of $100, we were both so shocked that we never did protest. The restaurant is located in Downtown Disney, on the west side
near Cirque, so you do not need a Disney ticket to dine here in case Disney isn’t your thing. They offer complimentary parking and valet parking. They are open from 11am to 1am, and the gift shop is open from 10am to midnight. They do accept credit cards. You can make reservations up to 90 days in advanced by calling 407/WDW-DINE or at the website at www.planethollywood.com.
*Note : If you are looking for the Hard Rock Café-Orlando , it is part of Universal Studios City Walk, which is the Universal equivalent of Downtown Disney.
