O'hana Is Great!

We always love the food and atmosphere at O'hana and this trip was no exception. The food is plentiful and there is really a nice variety. If the kids are picky, they can order one of 5 or 6 kids meals and eat from the family style meal as well. The service was great, never even a half-full glass on our table. Loved it!

Like the luau, it's fun for a kid. They have a lounge lizard with a ukulele. Kids love him and parents chuckle at his oddball shtick. The food is all-you-can-eat prix-fixe, a common method in Disney World. The appetizers of shrimp and wings were my favorite entrees. I did not have much use for the fire-cooked beef, pork, chicken, and sausages, but that’s just the way I eat. I tried them all, and many people will like them, even if it is a little reminiscent of Argentinean, rather than Hawaiian, cooking. Everything else was superb, especially the salad. Disney does salad dressings very well, so have salads at every chance and get the house dressing.

One important choice: where to sit. Yes, you might have to wait a bit, but it might be worth it. Near the cooking area is fun for kids, what with the fire and all. Near the windows is romantic. In between is comfortable. Sit right on the walkway and your kids can yuk it up with the ukulele guy. Or ask for a quiet interior corner (or specifically ask NOT to be there, which would be my choice).

Oh, and the bar outside is one of the better ones in Disney World, despite the cacophony from the usually crowded Polynesian lobby.

Ohana is a family style restaurant that specializes in Hawaiian style food. The restaurant is laid out in a large circle with several dining rooms. If you request the main dining room, you can watch the food being prepared over open pits/grills.
There is entertainment for the kids, and plenty of food for the adults. By far it was one of the best meals we had during our stay. We celebrated a birthday while we were here.
Priority seating is recommended. We had about a 10-15 minute wait with the priority seating, when we left the restaurant the wait was over an hour.
Highly recommended, we would go there again.

This was such a great restaurant. It had a great theme and great food. The restaurant is located in the Polynesian Resort, upstairs from the check-in desk. So it has a very nice Polynesian feel. The lights are kept low, and you can see the Magic Kingdom and the castle from the main dining room. The room is huge but they have found a way to keep the noise low even when the restaurant is packed. The tables are situated around a huge gazebo-like kitchen, where you can see the chefs hard at work over huge flames. It has a very nice and classy feel, but it is still very family- and kid-friendly.

I am not sure if there is even a menu, but I am sure you can order something small and cheaper for the kids if you ask. But the main meal there is "the feast", and yes, it is a feast. They bring an appetizer tower with buffalo wings, fancy salad, dipping sauces, and other choices. Then waiters come around with huge skewers of meat and ask you if you would like some. They pull the meat off the skewer straight to your plate. You can choose from turkey, chicken, beef, and shrimp, or all of them! The meat is amazing, and everything is cooked to perfection. Plus, you can eat as much as you want. If you have room, you can order dessert at the end--there are lots of fun family choices such as a sand bucket and shovel complete with a huge ice cream sundae or s'mores you can cook at your own table. That’s Disney for you.

Ohana means family, and family means no one gets left behind. (Bet you can’t leave this fun and exciting restaurant without saying that!)

O'hana

O'hana is located at the Polynesian resort. To get there simply take the Monorail. The restaurant is located on the same level as the Monorail drop off point.

We had dinner reservations for 8 p.m. However, we got there early and had to wait. During that time, we sat at the lounge area located adjacent to the restaurant and enjoyed a tropical drink. I had the "Malibu Macaw" which had Blue Coracao, Rum, and a variety of juices. My brother had a non-alcoholic strawberry dacquiri. It was actually very relaxing to sit in the wicker chairs and chill before dinner.

After waiting for 45 minutes, we were seated. Everyone at O'hana refers to you as "Cousin" or "Brother" or "Sister." The idea is to create a relaxed environment. O'hana is very laid back and has an interesting setup. Open grills are located near the center of the restaurant where chefs grill up different meats. The area near the grills is often requested, and I personally like the back of the building where I can sit and relax. We were seated by a window in the back with a perfect view of Cinderella's Castle lit up. Gorgeous!

As soon as you are seated, food is immediately brought to you. First, we were brought a tray (which is placed on a lazy susan) filled with shrimp won-tons (they are addicting!), green beans, chicken wings, fried rice, and a variety of sauces. Everything was very good. My brother said we needed to pace ourselves, so we tried to eat small portions of everything. Then the meat came. I liked that everyone says "Aloha, cousin!", but I think it really means "You will eat till you are stuffed" because they never stop bringing you food. When I asked for one piece, I was given two. My brother asked for two pieces once and was given six. The shrimp was wonderful, as was the steak, pork loin, and chicken. Dessert was pineapple with caramel sauce. We were extremely full and asked for a little pineapple but ended up with two boats of it.

The food was amazing here; the service was great; the ambiance was perfection; however, my major gripe was that the servers didn't listen to our requests for specific amounts. I felt bad about wasting food, and ate more than I normally would to clear my plate. My brother left a lot, and they razzed him about wasting food. I think you might be safer in bigger groups here. With two people, we hardly left a dent in our appetizers (and we nibbled throughout the meal.)

Truly an enjoyable meal. Well worth the price. $23.99 per adult. With tax our bill came to $50.10.
