Best of the Best

We go all the time with friends from work, mostly for the great drinks and fun. It is a place where we go after work to unwind before going home to the our wives or husbands and hear their usual hum-drum, (boring...) We laugh, sometimes we walk down Bourbon St. It is a place where you forget your troubles and play around a little with the people you work with all day long. Sometimes, we go for lunch and have a few drinks, go back to work and pick up where we left off after work. It's the best of the best.

Forget that fancy-schmancy stuff—sometimes all you want is good old comfort food. In which case, get thee to local hangout known as Port of Call, where the baked potatoes are huge and come fully loaded, the salad is topped with the best blue cheese dressing you’ve ever tasted, and the famed burgers are enormous. With a bar that takes up just about the entire place, and a modest atmosphere, you’ll have no problem kicking back Southern style. And try the signature Monsoon cocktail—l"order one and you’ll be set for the rest of the night."

Port O’ Call - Tourists, locals, and repeat visitors will tell you that this is THE place for the best hamburgers in the Quarter and surrounding districts. For $8.95, you get a big burger and a baked potato. You can add cheese for a small charge. Service is really great, and although it’s on Esplanade and closer to the Marigny, it’s not too far from the Quarter--just a couple of blocks' walk. One warning, however--there is a VERY long wait, as this is an extremely popular restaurant. Worth the wait, though, in my opinion.

Absolutely the best burger...everyone agrees. Take a taxi, unless you are staying on the east end of the Quarter; then it is quite a walk. Everything on the menu is good, but try the mushroom burger; you won't be disappointed. The crowd varies from the boring to exotic, so be prepared to see anything.
