My husband and I found this place early December when we wanted something romantic. We were in the mood for fine Italian dining and someone suggested we visit Sardella's, Newport; it is Rhode Island's oldest full service Italian restaurant. Sardella’s features Northern Italian and Southern Italian cuisine, specializing in both intimate dining and group events. The menu selections reflect the warm and relaxed atmosphere which has made them a year-round favorite with the local residents. Sardella’s is conveniently located between downtown Thames Street and historic Bellevue Avenue.
We enjoyed it so much that we went back to celebrate a 35th birthday- far from our first visit, this time we dined with 11 people. Sardellas was once again truly amazing. It is off the main strip but worth the walk on a summer night. (Park across from the tennis hall of Fame in the CVS lot and go through the back entrance.)
