The brick building was built in the 1600's and was steeped in history. We had a delicious meal. The service was wonderful. There was an extensive wine list.

We really enjoyed this place for the history. It goes back to 1687. The interior is old world with wood beams and dark booths.

Candles make the place very romantic and special. We had a great steak and potatoe meal and fine glass of red wine. The prices a bit steep but worth the experience.

The White Horse Tavern was built only two decades after the city was settled in 1687. This tavern was the meeting place of the colony's General Assembly, Criminal Court and City Council.

Offering American Cuisine and Continental favorites, the menus highlight fresh, native seafood and seasonal ingredients.

The rooms are candlelit with huge fireplaces and beamed ceilings.

The charm and elegance of 17th century Newport comes alive in this meticulously restored historic landmark.
