This wonderful Irish pub has a bar, a dining room, and a balcony area. In the dining room there is live music on most evenings from around 8:00 - 12:00 (usually Irish folk music). My wife and I have become friends with one of the singers, Harry O'Donohue. Harry comes from Ireland and sings many ballads and other traditional songs when he is in town. He performs usually two weeks per month at Kevin Barry's. Ask him to sing the ballad of Kevin Barry, which goes:
Just before he faced the hangman
In his dreary prison cell
British soldiers tortured Barry
Just because he would not tell
The names of his brave companions
And other things they wished to know
"Turn informer or we'll kill you"
Kevin Barry answered, "No"
What a marvelous remembrance to a brave young patriot.
The food at Kevin Barry's is mostly traditional Irish (Corned beef and cabbage, Irish stew, and shepherd's pie). If you enjoy your beer, have a pint of Guinness stout or Harp's fresh from the tap. Or, try a shot or two of Bushmill's fine Irish Whiskey. If you don't like any of this, have a delicious steak or some of the local seafood that is always brought in fresh.
My wife and I went here for a New Year's Eve celebration. We ate roast beef, shrimp, vegetables, and deserts, and had our fill of Guinness, Harp's, and Bushmill's. We listened to Harry and four other Irish balladeers sing and bring in the new year. The time we had was wonderful and we cannot wait to return.
