On a little side street just off Nevizade, you will even more meyhanes (taverns) like Saki, which is one of the biggest in the area. Although famed for visits by such local notables as singer Ibrahim Tatlises, model Deniz Pulas and footballer Sergen Yalçin, Saki treats all its customers deferentially. The décor is sparse, consisting of just a few photos of satisfied customers and press clippings from local newspapers. Their speciality in winter is paça (soup made from shanks of lamb) and the chef will do a memorable seafood pasta dish if you order it especially.
