Description
This is a perennially popular lunch and dinner spot not far from Istiklal Caddesi, specialising in gözleme (filled filo pastry pancakes) meals. The most popular fillings are cheese ones, particularly çökelek (a dry cottage cheese) as well as minced lamb (kiymali), mashed potatoes (patatesli) and spinach (ispanakli). A combination of all these fillings is also possible. This food is traditionally associated with village markets where the local women roll, fill and grill on the spot. This is why there is usually a woman in 'village' dress sitting in the large front window. The rest of the menu is also worth investigating and the chocolate mosiac dessert served here is utterly sinful.
