Description
Boncuk is well known in Nevizade for its superb Armenian specialties. Waiters happily cart heavy trayfuls of eastern Mediterranean bounty to eagerly waiting patrons. The dishes of choice include topik (a cinnamony Armenian pâté made from chickpeas, tahini and potatoes) and kislik (bulgur wheat patties flavored with pomegranate). The standard Turkish fare of white cheese, olives, anchovies and prawns is also good. Hot mezes often consist of fish balls, buttery slices of sautéed liver and gorgeous sigara börek oozing with cheese. Main dishes include sensational schnapper kebabs or delicious fillets of baked bonito or sea bass in season.
