I decided to try fried Mississippi River catfish. It was my first time having catfish and it was the best that I've had to date. The setting of the restaurant is similar to a diner. Therefore, I expected prices to be a little cheaper than they were, but considering it was on Beale St., I guess $10/person is fair.

Seafood and BBQ. I had the ribs and it came to me cold and uncooked. It was sent back and came back hot, but I really didn't like it. The sauce was rather too sweet for me. Our waitress was extremely rude, she literally threw our food on the table, but the chef was super. The grill is open to room and the cooks were warm and friendly. Best part of the evening was taking a picture of my friends giving the chef a kiss on the cheek!

Not the place to go if you're looking for a salad. A down-home kind of joint, the Blues City Cafe caters to the hungry carnivore who doesn't mind cholesterol. My friend got the ribs, which were moist and meaty--the best she'd ever had in a restaurant. I ordered the Crab Au Gratin, a thick custard-like dish of crab and loads of bubbling cheese served in a skillet. I'd recommend you get that as an appetizer--even my own iron-clad stomach could barely take the richness. The service was a little slow, but it was Saturday night on Beale Street; the place was packed. You can eat in the spacious dining room or the narrow adjacent bar where you'll be treated to live blues--great unless you want to have a conversation. It's LOUD.
