Located off West End near Centennial Park on the outskirts of downtown, you will find this local dive. It is a historic establishment that serves the best hamburgers in town, plus meat and three plates, sandwiches, a full bar, and those delicious old-fashioned milk shakes. We ate there a lot in college--it was cheap, and it was good. It is conveniently located near three universities, the arena, and the Titans stadium.

Rumored to be one of the sources of Jimmy Buffet's "Cheeseburger in Paradise" it is the cheeseburger (served on french bread) that has made a name for this hole in the wall dive of a restaurant. Located a street over from West End in the heart of Nashville, near Vanderbilt University and a mile or two from downtown, you'll find a small quaint bar/restaurant with barely enough tables to handle the overflow crowd and reasonably slow service, but some of the best burgers you'll ever eat.
When Buffet named Rotiers one of the five best cheeseburgers in the world in the liner notes that accompanied his boxed set release a few years back, Rotiers popularity went from that of a neighborhood joint to a happening spot that draws in visitors to Nashville. If you have a sweet tooth, you'll want to try one of their vanilla or chocolate shakes which are consistently voted among the best in the city. When you visit be prepared to wait for a table, be prepared to wait on your waiter/waitress, and bring cash or your check book because they don't take credit cards. My bet is that you'll leave wanting to recommend Rotiers to your family and friends.
Overall, you just can't beat a great meal at a great price and who knows you might just run in to Mr. Buffet himself.
