Daniel Webster Inn

We happened upon this inn and had dinner in the tavern. There was also the full/formal dining room as a choice. The food was great in the tavern, and they have live entertainment on the weekends.

The inn also has a full spa (which I didn't get a chance to try). More can be seen on their website at www.danielwebsterinn.com.

Daniel Webster has a great atmosphere and is located in downtown historic Sandwich. It was built in the 1800s but burned down and was rebuilt. They have a casual tavern/bar, or you can enjoy a more formal dinner. The food is fabulous if you are a fan of garden burgers--I have never tasted better! A lot of the food is locally grown and very fresh. You will never get a bad meal here or bad service.

This is a very nice eating establishment where you can spend a little or spend a lot. It's an excellent atmosphere and in the colder months, the fireplace is a delight and the hot toddies are a welcome beverage. Get the warm apple cider with a hint of rum and served in a brandy snifter with the rim covered with cinnamon. Ah, so yummie!

There are actually two areas to eat in this Inn: the formal dining area and the bistro area. We chose the bistro area (more casual), but were able to order off the formal menu as well. The kid's menu was terrific, and they had crayons and placemats to color. The food was absolutely fantastic and we all had different things. I understand the the Sunday Brunch here is particularly good.

During this meal, we all had different things and all were good. My husband had steak, and my son tried Lobster Roll for the first time. I had chicken and sampled a variety of flavored coffees that they had on hand.

The only negative was that the service was slow. We were there on a weeknight, so I'm not sure if this would get worse on a weekend, or if they might be better staffed. However, the food was worth the wait.

This is an old home converted into a multi-room dining experience. Lunch is a busy time and the food arrives quickly at your table. They have a wide assortment of soups, sandwiches (of course), and salads. A great atmosphere.
