One-level nondescript building that we probably would have driven by had we not been looking for it. Well, believe it or not, it’s a culinary destination NOT to be missed.

Our visit was on a Saturday at past 1pm and there were only 2 spots in the immediate parking vicinity of Marigold. Hhhhmmm…..it sure looked promising.

The outside belies the surprise that awaits inside.

As one enters, on the left is the bar/deli counter, which, I definitely have to say we missed out on (as I will explain later).

On the right is the main dining area and the Hostess leads you to your table. Immediately, we were pleasantly surprised of the restaurant’s subdued yet tasteful ambiance, more befitting of a medium to high-end atmosphere.

As we were led to our table, we noticed that the dining area was near-full capacity.

Seated, it wasn’t long before hot bread and butter was brought the to us. I’d also like to make special mention that there we never felt we had to rush and make a decision on what we wanted. That was great as looking at the menu, we indeed had a bit of difficulty making our choice from the delectable menu list.

We finally settled on the California Sea Bass from the Day’s Lunch Special and the Fish and Chips from the regular menu.

The Sea Bass was pan-seared with a delicious cream sauce and served with rice pilaf and roasted vegetables while the fish and chips were 2 big slabs of cod, crunchy on the outside but flaky and simply divine on the inside. The accompanying fries were the best I have ever tasted, seasoned and with tiny rock salts clinging to them.

On the day we dined, the Day’s Lunch Special consisted of :
* Mahi-Mahi
* Beef Brouchettes
* Soup du Jour and the
* California Sea Bass (which I had)

BTW, considering the 5-star flavorful meal, service and ambiance, the prices were definitely reasonable. The Sea Bass was $11++ while the Fish & Chips was $9++. With sodas, total bill was about $29 and definitely well worth it.

"Proof of the pudding" ? Even before we finished our lunch, we already had decided to come back for dinner and get some of their pastries for a late-night snack.

TIP : Hours are Mon. to Sat.
7AM – 10:30AM
11AM - 2:30PM
5PM - 9PM

Closed Sundays.

I strongly suggest that if going for dinner, you arrive before
8:30pm as we were turned away and when we came back
for dinner at 8:40pm. Though politely told the kitchen was
already closed, it still was such a let-down to miss another meal
there and more importantly, missing a taste of their pastries.

Overall, a DEFINITE 5-Star food destination for us in Colorado Springs.
