Texas Land and Cattle Steakhouse

It has easy access from the Riverwalk. It had a cowboy dining hall, rough log walls, old photographs, and horseshoes. It is a busy place, rather noisy but cozy at the same time. It was a chilly night along the Riverwalk, and it was a warm atmosphere in which to relax and have a drink and a steak. It is, much like many other steakhouses, not a bad place to go, but not anything special, either.

We enjoyed our meal. Our steaks were done the way we ordered them and were tender and tasty. Service was attentive. Reasonable wine selection by the glass and bottle. Can be up to an hour or more wait for a table at peak times, and they don't have pagers, so you have to wait nearby to hear your name called. Restaurant is large and busy, but the dining experience is still enjoyable. Menu selections to meet all tastes, but stressing steak and Texas meat dishes. Right on the Riverwalk.

Great steaks at a reasonable price, the alcoholic drinks are a bit too pricy tho. Make sure to try and miss the crowds by coming after 630 or so in the evenings on the weekends.

On the RiverWalk side of the lower floor of the Drury Inn and Suites is this restaurant. Very busy during peak times. The food is similar to 'Outback' but with a Texan flare. Only one side (potatoes, onions) dish is included in the price of your main course. If you want a salad, it's extra. If you want a GREEN vegetable with your dinner, it's extra. An order of mushrooms is tiny and swimming in sauce.

Although non-beef items (chicken, fish) are on the menu; the reason to come here is beef. This is range fed beef. Sorry if I'm getting a bit technical here, but I am a Texan). Not the rich, heavy corn fed beef you would get from say, Nebraska.

I ordered a 'Cowgirl Ribeye'. What I got was no ribeye, but more of a flank steak that deserved to be hammared and chicken fried. It was the kind of meat a cowboy would have cooked in a fry pan over a campfire.

We had a wonderful, but overworked waiter who made up for some of the problems with the food. Major problem was the nature of the beef. If you want a RICH steak, go to 'Outback' or any number of other restaurants that serve a higher price cut of beef.
