Jake's on the Lake

Jake's Lake Tahoe embodied the Tahoe spirit in a "Classic Waterfront Grill" offering superb service, a friendly and casual atmosphere.

Jake's on the Lake is the perfect spot to unwind. Situated on the lakefront, overlooking the largest marina on the northwest shore of Lake Tahoe, this popular hotspot in Tahoe offers everything you could want for an exciting evening. Jake's is in the center of Tahoe's summer activities and 10 minutes away from winter skiing at Squaw Valley

We started with cocktails in the bar (tequila laced oyster shooters with hot sauce were a favorite) and met some friendly locals and visitors. For dinner we moved to the patio overlooking the lake and enjoyed some of the finest food we've experienced in our travels. The tournedos of beef tenderloin were superb, as was the house specialty salmon. We finished with the signature dessert, Hula Pie (from this restaurant chain's Hawaii locations).

FYI, Hula Pie is made with Kimo's favorite macadamia nut ice cream piled high on a chocolate cookie crust and topped with chocolate fudge, whipped cream, and more macadamia nuts. YUM!

Service was exemplary and friendly . . . all making for a wonderful evening we won't forget. Jake's will always be a destination whenever we return to Lake Tahoe.

P.S. The sunsets from this spot are awesome.

Jake's was probably my favorite restaurant we visited during our visit. Although reservations are not always required, it's worth calling ahead to make sure you get a window seat overlooking the lake. Jake's especially known for its fresh seafood, and I heartily recommend the Seven Spice Ahi. Whatever you decide to order, make sure you save room for a slice of Hula Pie for dessert. The Hula Pie is well known around Tahoe City, and many local shops give away coupons which entitle you to two slices for the price of one.
