Zelos Beach House

Zelos in Hanalei was our favorite pub type restaurant. The motif of the restaurant is movies that have been filmed on the island and beach bum bits and pieces. The walls are decorated with movie posters and other props used in the movies.

They have a great happy hour with reduced prices for drinks and appetizers. Try the nachos (chips, beans, salsa, olives, cheese, sour cream, etc); you will not need any dinner. We observed delicious looking salads, burgers and fish plates being served and devoured by the guests. We also had delicious-fried artichoke hearts on a different day.

Don’t forget to use the restroom while you are there; more great movie trivia awaits you. The wait-staff were always very fun and carefree. Zelos does not actually overlook the beach, it has the feel of the beach with its openness and decor, but Hanalei Beach is a short three minute walk.

Lunch was very reasonable. We ordered beer-battered fish and chips. The fish was ONO (meaning "Delicious" in Hawaiian) and it was the best fish and chips ever!!! This is a very relaxed and casual dining experience, open to the outside with seating is available on the deck.

This is the only restaurant we ate at that was a disappointment. The service was terrible and the food over priced though not bad. Not exceptional either and not much of it. Not worth your time or money.
