Yummy 'za. Recommended by locals and they do some advertising in the discount books. It is great pizza.

Make sure you get there a little early or a little late as the locals fill the place. Great service, airy atmosphere (though a bit dark inside), and parking could be an issue pending crowd.

A little pricier than I expected, but the taste, variety of options, and beer made it worth it.

On the way to Waimea Canyon, there is a great lunch or dinner spot. This might be the best pizza I have ever had. If not, it's a close second. This is not a place to miss.

Not only is the pizza great, the sandwiches awesome, and the salads huge and delicious.... they now offer homade buffalo wings!!! Its just YUM-O!!! I think the saying there is "broke da mouth," local term in Hawaii means "excitingly delicious." I asked a girl there, don't remember her name about it. She informed me that "the wings are soaked over night, and cooked just right." BINGO, she hit that one on the nose! A basket of 7-9 wings served with a lemon wedge and a choice of blue cheese or ranch dressing, add a iced cold mug of their Stela Beer... makes for one serious start to a great dining experience. The Restaurant is now open on Monday nights too. After eating at Brick Oven Pizza for over a period of 6 years, I just have to say one thing...they RULE!!! Try it and you too will see.

Pizza: a basic, just "want something" food, right? Most of the time. Brick Oven is different, and I never thought I'd say that about a pizza place. Oh sure, some pizza places are good (and we have plenty we'd recommend in various places), and some are less so (we'll tell you those too), but still, they're all pizza. Until now.

We searched out Brick Oven on the advice of Wizard's "Ultimate Kauai," after a long day of hiking/sight-seeing at the Grand Canyon of the Pacific. We were tired, didn't want to cook, and felt pizza would be easy. This place is expensive, as is much of HI to be honest, so we were a little doubtful but chalked it up to vacation expense and let the boys each choose their own small pizza while Jack and I tried one of their specialties. While waiting, we people-watched... and they have quite the license plate collection to look at.

The pizza was superb, and different from any other that I've ever had. I'm not quite sure exactly what it is either (and I'm not a gourmet cook, so I don't know flavors that well to figure it out). All of the boys loved theirs, and their topping choices varied from basic cheese/mushrooms to chicken, etc. We loved ours too (ours had Portuguese sausage among other ingredients, basically a "works"). You do get decent portions. We didn't order them, but the salads that went by to other customers also looked appealing. Perhaps salad and a pizza for next time? You can choose take out if you prefer.

Service was excellent, food was excellent, decor was excellent, and they offered young kids some pizza dough to play with to keep them amused while waiting. We'd eat there again, and I hope to get that chance someday! Oh yes, the guidebooks say they are closed on Mondays.

It was our last night in Kauai, and our palette (and our wallets!) was ready for some pizza! We asked around and we were sent to Brick Oven Pizza in Kalaheo. This restaurant is family run, not a chain, and a local favorite. The walls of the restaurant are full of whimsical pizza-place murals and license plates from around the US. The tables are covered with bright red-and-white-checked tablecloths.

The brick oven-baked pizza was excellent. The dough (you can choose white or whole wheat) is homemade and brushed with garlic butter. There’s cheese aplenty, and if you like Italian sausage, theirs is made right in their kitchen, with just the right amount of spicy!

Your wallet will love you almost as much as your taste buds. A 15-inch pizza is about $18.
