We went for lunch and had a wonderful meal. The waitstaff were friendly and made every effort to make our time there special. The meal was good and drinks plentiful.

Shopping and sightseeing in and around the area were a pleasant diversion after our meal.

We had lunch at Gaylord's and had a great time. It is a very expensive lunch so be prepared. The house is very cool and a real treasure. Our meal was very well prepared. You get a good portion but maybe a little small for the price. The view and atmosphere is the best part (next to the dessert).

This is a wonderfully authentic Hawaiian plantation experience. It's romantic and upscale with beautiful grounds. The food is excellent--the best on the island, in fact. It is pricey, but everything other than a plate lunch is expensive on Kauai.

One of the best meals in Kauai! The seafood was cooked perfectly and my wife's steak was fantastic. Great ambience and speciality shops ajoin. A very nice place. Don't miss this one.

Gaylord's Restaurant is named after Gaylord Parke Wilcox, who built the house in 1935. THe restaurant was established in 1986 when the Wilcox home was restored to a historic site accessible to the public for the first time. In 1986, the restaurant opened serving lunch and dinner. Gaylord's is well known for venison, lamb, seafood, pastas and desserts.

The tables are set up outside under a patio that goes the length of back of the plantation house. With the gentle cool Kauai breeze and candlelight, it was a very pleasant. The waiters were very friendly and conscientous. Our meals were excellent!

I got the BLACKENED PRIME RIB---prime rib pan seared Cajun style, drizzled with wasabi horseradish sauce, served with red bliss basil potatoes, lilikoi baby carrots and garden vegetables. (10 OZ. REGULAR CUT $20.95)

My husband got the OLIVER SHAGNASTY'S BABY BACK RIBS--Danish baby back ribs rubbed with Oliver's secret blend of spices, slow cooked and basted with our tropical barbecue sauce, topped with large onion rings, served with light coleslaw.($19.95

The plantation house is sort of a museum. There are several period pieces throughout the house and visitors are allowed to see them. There is even a large diningroom in the house that is used for meetings. Also attached to one side of the building is a gift shop.

Gaylords also hosts a luau. We didn't go to it, but we could hear some of the laughter and music as we were dining. Sounded like a good time!
