Gaylord's @ the Kilohana Plantation

We decided to dine here after they catered an event at our resort (Embassy Suites) and we were able to talk with the manager. We were not disappointed. We arrived well before our reservations and took a ride around the plantation on the horse-drawn buggy. Seeing tobacco growing was very interesting -- it is actually a very pretty plant.

The dining area is set in a wrap-around porch -- very cozy and romantic. Our server was prompt and very helpful -- she even got the bartender to write on a napkin what he used to make the Kilohana cooler that we enjoyed before our meal. I make it for guests in my own home to this day.

I enjoyed:
MEDITERRANEAN LINGUINE WITH GRILLED CHICKEN
Imported pasta tossed in olive oil with garlic, marinated flame-broiled chicken breast, sun-dried tomatoes, Kalamata olives, fresh herbs, and Kauai's Kunana Dairy Feta cheese, served with garlic bread and freshly grated Parmesan cheese. ($20.95)

My husband had:
Filet Mignon Madagascar
Choice tenderloin flame-broiled to order, served in its own sauce au poivre vert made with soft green Madagascar peppercorns, accompanied by red bliss basil potatoes and garden vegetables. ($24.95)

For dessert, we shared:
Deep-fried Chocolate Truffles
Swiss bittersweet chocolate fried in a coconut crust, served with vanilla bean ice cream and fruit glazes. ($7.95)

Everything was well prepared and brought to our table promptly, but not in a hurried fashion. Besides the drink, I would have to say my favorite part of the meal was the dessert -- I don't think I have ever had anything so wonderful in my life and I have certainly had my share of great desserts. I can't say enough good things about dining here!! Can't wait to visit again!!

We went for lunch and had a wonderful meal. The waitstaff were friendly and made every effort to make our time there special. The meal was good and drinks plentiful.

Shopping and sightseeing in and around the area were a pleasant diversion after our meal.

We had lunch at Gaylord's and had a great time. It is a very expensive lunch so be prepared. The house is very cool and a real treasure. Our meal was very well prepared. You get a good portion but maybe a little small for the price. The view and atmosphere is the best part (next to the dessert).

This is a wonderfully authentic Hawaiian plantation experience. It's romantic and upscale with beautiful grounds. The food is excellent--the best on the island, in fact. It is pricey, but everything other than a plate lunch is expensive on Kauai.

One of the best meals in Kauai! The seafood was cooked perfectly and my wife's steak was fantastic. Great ambience and speciality shops ajoin. A very nice place. Don't miss this one.
