Toulouse had a great write-up about it in the Atlanta paper, so we decided to check it out. It is easy to find on Peachtree, and I liked the hanging baskets of greenery spilling off the balcony where you enter the restaurant from the parking lot in the back of the building. I liked the atmosphere of the large, open room full of diners enjoying their wine. I liked the original and colorful artwork on the walls. I thought the hostess working that night was exceptionally gracious, and the service was attentive. However, I'm not sure I was that crazy about the food. The place bills itself as an American Bistro with a French menu. I had a large pasta meal that was okay but a little bland. My husband had a lamb shank that was good, but not great. The wine list was nice, however, and our waitress gave us a good recommendation on which bottle to enjoy. The coffee was good, too, as we wanted to try one of the delicious looking desserts. We settled on a bread pudding selection which was PRESENTED fabulously, but the first bite proved to be a disappointment. It was a bit too dry for my tastes. Granted I am very discriminating about bread pudding as I have a grandmother who prepares one of the best in the South, so another's review might be less harsh. Overall, I would say I enjoyed dining at Toulouse for the atmosphere, and the staff could not have been nicer. I have friends that really like this restaurant, and it has a great reputation for serving nice meals. The night we ate there, however, the food was not as memorable as I had expected it to be, so I left a little disappointed.
