The Melting Pot is a great date restaurant. It is part of a chain, but the food is good, and it does not have the often sterile feel some large chain restaurants fall victim to. The booths are high to give you privacy, and the lights are a little low to set a good mood. At the absolute least the dining experience will be a unique one. There is a fondue pot in the middle of every table, and if you like fondue you will be in heaven. My husband and I like to order The Classic Dinner for Two Coq Au Vin Style (Mushrooms, Garlic, Spices, Burgundy Wine in Sauce). We are given skewers of shrimp, chicken, sirloin and fish that we actually cook ourselves at our table. By all means listen to the waitstaff when they tell you not to eat directly off the metal skewers you cook your food on. They get VERY hot, and I have burned my tongue before (I am not a good listener)! I also really like Cheese fondue with bread. And the strawberries dipped in chocolate fondue for dessert are to die for! Be prepared to spend a long time at the restaurant gazing into your date''s eyes, however. The service is good, but the whole meal just takes a long time to get through. By the way, The Melting Pot also has a nice wine selection, and the waitstaff will be able to help you choose a nice bottle.
